Provenance
The provenance of the flag is unclear. The Federation of Factory Workers was founded in Hanover in 1890. It had over 600,000 members in 1919. In 1932 it joined forces with the SPD, the Reichsbanner and workers' sports associations to form the Iron Front in the fight against National Socialism. On 2 May 1933 it was banned and dissolved by the National Socialists and its members forced to join the Nazi trade union DAF (German Labour Front).
In Osterode, Franz Hagenbuch, born 8 May 1884 in Heidelberg, was secretary of the Federation of Factory Workers.
