Pollack (Pollak), Ernst Friedrich (Sammlung)
About the person
Schubertring 7, Vienna 1938
Ernst Friedrich and Gisela Pollack (sometimes also Pollak) were expelled as Jews from their house at Schubertring 7, Vienna 1, and were murdered in the Theresienstadt concentration camp in 1942. Ernst Pollack was a wealthy textile businessman and had a considerable art collection in his large flat. This collection consisted of valuable paintings, tapestries, porcelain, antique weapons, sculptures and furniture. He also had a unique silver and bronze collection, which was listed as a historical monument at the time. The Gestapo inventoried some of the furnishings and collections, confiscated them and handed them over to the Dorotheum auction house. However, many items were also simply stolen.
