Loss History: ? Boxes of books and 400 packages of herbaria were stored in the mine in Bleicherode-Süd/Harz during the war. In 1946/47 they were stored in a shed in Erfurt and finally taken to the Public Scientific Library in Berlin. After the fire at the Botanical Museum in 1943 (?), 1,000 folders from the herbarium were transferred to the Zoological Institute (East Berlin). They had not yet been returned in 1947. In 1948, a proposal was made to exchange these parts of the collection for the library of the Institute for Folk Art Research, which was still in the Folklore Museum, and for books and furnishings from the Institute of Physics, which were still stored in Dahlem. The exchange took place in September.
