Turris sapientiae; woodcut (single-leaf print)

Detached before 1907 from the back cover of the incunabulum Heidelberg, UB, Q 1523 Folio INC (provenance: Cistercian monastery of Salem). Destroyed by bombing or the effects of war or could no longer be found after 1945. During the nine-month occupation of Heidelberg University Library by the American army in 1945/1946, valuable library holdings were stolen several times. Eight of the 12 broadsheets and one manuscript stolen at the time were located in the USA in the 1960s and were subsequently returned to Heidelberg.
