Description
Signed and dated at the bottom right: „J wÿnants 1661“; on a high sand hill with a scrub-covered slope, there is a grazing flock of sheep with their shepherd; on the left, there is a sunlit driveway with wayfarers, and in the distance, one can see a village at the foot of a hill; in the foreground, there are two laden mules.
Provenance
From the collection of duke August of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg (cf. 1826 inventory). [...]. Loss before 1943; whereabouts unknown.
