Description

Statuette; Bozzetto-like, skeletal, thin figurines, wrapped in a long Redingote coat, concealing the coarse baton behind the back. Energetic torsion of the body, aggressively bulging, spiderlike, fanning corporeality, and the stinging, raised look to the side of the gaunt face, with a long beard under a hat slightly bent to the side, lends the figure the appearance of a malignant malignancy. Sensual and conceptually condensed monument of Bonapartism. According to the knowledge of Dr. Hermann Jedding, curator at the Museum of Arts and Crafts, Hamburg, in the report of 26.11.1962, all 20 copies of the series A. Rudier were provided with foundry stamps and casting numbers, of which the Ploschitzki family was never aware;

from a series of 20 bronze specimens in 1925 by the company Alexis Rudier, Paris. Casting No. 19; Bronze casting after one of the two plaster casts from the original clay sculpture; dark brown patinated; original clay figure by H. Daumier 1850/51 (gypsum casts of Adolphe-Victor Geoffrey-Dechaume (1851) and Jean Pouzadoux (1851/1891))

Provenance
The Ploschitzki Family purchased the Ratapoil 1928 for 4,000 RM in the gallery Flechtheim in Berlin. The purchase invoice presented on 28.11.1928 in the restitution proceedings was issued in the name of Mr. S. Marzynski, Berlin W15, Kaiserallee 20. Dr. H. Jedding of the Kunstgewerbemuseum Hamburg concludes that this is the 19th of 20 copies of the Rudier cast of 1925. - On the occasion of the sale of the moving property of Mrs. Johanna (Hansi) Ploschitzki, afterwards Share, on 2.12.1941 / 5.12.1941, 9.12.1941 arranged by Gestapo and OFD Hamburg, the Ratapoil under position 815 was purchased for 80 RM plus 15% surcharge Cav. Money (12 RM) by a Mr. Commeter. Whereabouts of the bronze sculpture unknown
