Kneeling figure of a standing lady turned to the left, her face turned towards the viewer, her hands clasped over her body; inscribed and dated lower left: "J. Ingres Del. 1855", inscription lower right: "A sa chère belle Soeur Mlle Mathilde Ramel"; on the reverse an exhibition slip: "Exposition Ingres 1911" of the Galerie Georges Petit with the indication of the owner at that time (Gustave Régnier)
