Description
Signed bottom right: „J Dvck“; an officer jokes with a dressed-up lady, who is sitting on the table in front of her bed; a sumptuous grey cloth has half slid down from the table; on the right, cello, rapier and cloak lean on the chair; in the background, a singing cavalier sits at the full table; the depiction of the details, notably the fabrics, is very finely done.

From the collection of duke Ernest II of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg (cf. 1826 inventory). [...]. Still present in the museum in 1943 (catalog 1943, p. 113); date of loss unknown; current location: Pushkin Museum Moscow, object 101042, no. ЭЖ-872 ("Gallant Scenery", 47 x 37 cm).
