Description
Picture of a Silesian glass carrier in a simple frame. A heavily laden two-horse cart arriving at the ‘Gasthof zum grünen Adler’ inn. A farmhand brings water for the horses. Above the scene is the caption: ‘Glas bringt mein Fuhrwerk weit und breit. / Gott schütze es zu jeder Zeit.’
The painting was exhibited in the guild room on the first floor of the Guben City Museum.
Provenance
Formerly the Guben City Museum. Parts of the collection were apparently evacuated to Kossar (today: Kosierz) in 1942/43. The part of the collection that remained in Guben is said to have been looted between 1945 and 1948 and has been considered lost ever since.
