Mountain landscape with church in spring
Adalbert (Bela) Parlagi acquired the painting from the C.J. Wawra auction house in Vienna at their sale of May 14-15, 1923 (Catalog Nr. 275, Lot 94, Illustration 32).
In April 1938, Parlagi and his family emigrated from Vienna to London via Switzerland; December 7, 1938, Parlagi put his art collection into storage with the shipping company Zdenko Dworak at their warehouse located in Vienna XVIII, Gersthoferstrasse 8 & 10; the Gestapo confiscated Parlagi’s property from the warehouse and auctioned it through the Vugesta at the Dorotheum in Vienna; the painting was acquired by Wilhel Schmid, Munich, at the Dorotheum sale of May 8-9, 1941 (Catalog Nr. 156, Lot 56, Illustration 2).
