Signed lower left: Ch. Wilberg. Nocturne. On the left a monastery church under giant cypresses. Some monks carrying crosses on the way in front of it. Right in front a cemetery cross, in the middle ground a deep ravine with a lot of electricity.

1883 donated by J. R. Spies, Dresden; 1937 in the 'Gau-Führerschule' (Gau guide school) in Augustenburg.
