Description
The blade is irregular and damascened. The handle is made of chased gold sheet and set with coloured stones. It has the shape of a deity. The scabbard is made of silver and beautifully grained natural wood. In the centre of the front is a finely chiselled relief frieze with birds in vine work.
Provenance
acquired by Ginsberg in 1912 from Rex & Co., Berlin; 1912 -1942 Ostasiatica Collection Herbert Ginsberg, Berlin; in 1942 large parts of the Ginsberg collection were confiscated in Rotterdam by the Sicherheitsdienst (SD); whereabouts unknown
