Description
Cast stone sculpture of a nude woman whose right leg kneels down and whose left leg is bent with the left foot on the ground. A piece of fabric is wrapped around both of her legs. Her right arm is bent, and her left arm rests on her left leg. She looks downwards.
Provenance
Left behind by claimant's mother when she fled her home at Kronacher Strasse 19, Lichtenfels, Germany in November 1938. She left her sisters behind to pack up the house, but Nazi officers arrived and confiscated the family's art collection as "degenerate" before they could pack it. Some items were later recovered, but this work was not among them.
