acquired in 1935, presumably from the art dealer Abe Gutnajer in Warsaw; David Cender, Łódź; forced relocation to the Warsaw Ghetto in spring 1940, having to leave the painting and other valuables behind in the flat in Łódź; further circumstances of loss unclear; whereabouts unknown
