Description
Portrait of a younger lady in front of a light background, the head in side view to the left, the hair tied into plaits around the head and a chignon, wearing a light-coloured robe with a relief-like border or a simple necklace. The picture field seems to run out in point manner around shoulders and the lower part of the head.
Signed bottom right with the sigle "E. G."
Provenance
old family property; before 1942 Wolfsburg Castle (until 1932 Gardelegen County, Province of Saxony; then Gifhorn County, Province of Hanover; today City of Wolfsburg); then moved to the newly built Neumühle Castle near Tangeln, municipality of Beetzendorf in the Altmark County of Salzwedel, where it is located: "Study of the master of the house"; left behind in 1945 during the flight from Neumühle Castle before it was taken over by the Red Army; Neumühle Castle was assigned to the Soviet occupation zone and expropriated; whereabouts unknown
