Description

Makers' mark HP, assay mark of Bautzen, Poseidon with trident carries the pyramid snail with the mounted bowl in which a bird (swan?) stands on a pedestal with spread wings; Inscription on the edge of the snail shell: a) "Herrn Johann benadens Seel. Erben zum andenken Ihres Seel. Herrn Vaters als ein 27jährigen Rathsmann und 9 jahr gewesenen Cämmerers. Anno 1701."

Provenance

Donation to the Bautzen city council in 1701; Loss in Leisnig, Bus'sche Kaserne April / May 1945.
