Description
A gypsy woman reads the palm of a young girl in a grey silk dress, lace collar and pearl necklace; a soldier, who holds a candle, stands between the two; the light of the candle shines on the girl and a smyrna carpet; a coloured woman stands in the darkness behind the gypsy woman.
Provenance
From the collection of duke August of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg (cf. 1826 inventory). Part of the paintings discarded in 1897 (see file); whereabouts unknown.
