History of loss: In February 1945, the pulpit of St John's Church, created by Magdeburg sculptor Tobias Wilhelmi, was taken out of storage to protect it from the effects of war. The Magdeburg company Hermann Habs was commissioned by the congregation to dismantle and transport it. 51 boxes containing the sculptures and the pulpit decoration were to be stored in the underground facilities used by the armaments industry in Halberstadt-Spiegelsberge.
