Description
A BRILLIANTLY ENAMELLED TRIANGULAR SALT CELLAR, probably by Guido Durantino, supported on three orange paw feet, the corners with green acanthus leaf supports, the sides and top superbly drawn and painted in orange, yellow and green with masks, grotesche motifs and in the corners with the " Strozzi" Arms, the triangular sunk centre with "bianco-sopra-bianco" ornament, Urbino, circa 1530
Provenance
Munich, loss 1938;
The collection (approx. 440 works) was confiscated by the SS in Munich in 1938 on the occasion of the ‘Reichskristallnacht’ and auctioned at Sotheby's in London in 1939 (7/8 June and 19/20 July).
