Coronation of the Virgin
Center panel of an altarpiece. In the center of the composition are the Virgin at the left and Christ at the right, who is crowning her. They're sitting in clouds. Below, at a pedestal zwo angels are kneeling and praying to them. The group is surrounded by saints: three ones at each side.
Compare with Coronation of the Virgin at the National Gallery zu London (Van Marle III, p. 495), that is dated 1370/1371 and with work of the master for "Zecca Vecchia" (after 1373),
Confiscated in mid-1938 from the Spiegler family's apartment at Goethestraße 3 in Vienna. Submitted by the Gestapo to the Dorotheum art auction. Auctioned at the 453rd art auction under lot no. 9 on 2 December 1938; auction, Van Ham, Cologne, 24 January 2017, lot 307 (as Italian master, 19th century), acquired there by the current owner;
2025 amicable settlement; auction, Dorotheum, Vienna, 23 October 2025, lot no. 3 (pursuant to a settlement between the current owner and the heirs of Fritz Spiegler)
