Description
Silver clock with quarter- and half-hour repeater and alarm; sturdy silver case decorated with open-work arabesques and a Roman scene in high relief; black leather outer casing, mounted with silver; clockwork signed: "Elrhöm London"; case signed: "M L".
Provenance
According to the 1858 inventory, it was originally the travel watch of duke Ernest II of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg; property of duke Ernest II. (?) of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, previously from the estate of duke August of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg.
