Description
Shape:
So-called ginger jar; footless, oval body with horizontal shoulder; short neck; flat cover without knob.
Décor:
Four white oval fields on blue ground, famille verte style decoration, a bizarrely shaped stylised rock surrounded by gnarled branches bearing splendid flowers, on the rock probably a nest-like structure with a sitting bird, from a high branch a similar bird looks down at the nest; finely painted golden tendrils and flower rosettes on the base of the outside and the cover; the cover bears (probably two) fan-shaped famille verte style fields with flowering branches above an earth zone.
Manufacturer's mark: underglaze blue double ring

Bauchige Urnenvase mit napfartigem Deckel, Gefäß China, Deckel Meissen, gespritzter, unterglasurkobaltblauer Grund, in ausgebuchteten, zarten Feldern, Blütenzweige mit Vögeln in famille verte-Malerei, Goldmalerei auf gespritztem blauen Grund, am Boden unterglasurblauer Doppelring, I 44c, (Meißner Deckel trägt die gleiche Bezeichnung I 44+) Höhe: 38 cm, Durchmesser 24 cm. (Turmzimmer, vormal. Residenzschloß Dresden)."
