Anna Elisabeth von Bartensleben-Wolfsburg (* 1678, † 1752)
A half-figure portrait of a younger woman who seems to look directly at the viewer, dressed in a round wide-cut, strictly waisted brocade robe with embroidery decorations and a sleeve ending in angular folds, over it a dark cloak fastened with a precious clasp in the bust area against a dark background; close-fitting hairstyle with obviously blond plaits. "A painting powerful in colour and modelling from the school of the French painter Antoine Pesne, ..." And: "The delicate face shows expressive eyes. She wears a beautifully designed dress, which is made of silk. You can see floral and fantasy ornaments on the dress, the neckline is trimmed with lace. She wears a cape made of silk." (Hammerschmidt 2001).
The picture was obviously oval-framed at an earlier time.
