Description

Mirror frame poliment-gilt ( overpainted). Contemporary objects from the second half of the 18th century in typical rococo style. Rectangular mirror with curved top, gilded wooden frame with surrounding frieze in the shape of carved notches, top with sculptural carving: fruit, foliage and scrollwork. Mirror glass divided into two parts.

Possibly inscription in blue oil crayon ‘Großes Speisezimmer, F [1, 2 or 3]’ on the reverse.

Provenance
Listed in the inventory of 1769; relocated to the Great Dining Hall of the east wing of Dresden Castle in 1874; in accordance with the 1924 settlement agreement, they fell to the Free State of Saxony; In 1944, mirrors and mirror parts and wall mirrors were transported from the Dresden Castle to a relocation site (Rammenau or Schleinitz Castle); there is no evidence of a return transfer; Circumstances of loss unknown. A loss in connection with the events of the Second World War is assumed.
