Description
Pewter jugs
History
Of the pewter items from Coburg Castle, which according to the recovery lists were stored in Rosenau Castle and were transferred by the Americans from Rosenau to Tambach, the following were missing in Tambach: pewter jugs (A.S. numbers 60a and 60b/ H.S. 1414 and 1429). Instead, there was an unnumbered pewter jug and a tin can with insignificant engravings. The latter probably came from one of the rooms at Rosenau Castle. See Protocol No. 9 of 14 August 1947. In the list of art objects from the art collections at Veste Coburg that are presumed to have been lost through looting or theft since the occupation troops marched in, H.A. 1429 is listed and described as an item in the glass collection. (see individual glass object)
