The lidded vase with shell handles and floral decoration was made by the Fürstenberg porcelain manufactory. The smooth body of the vase, on which the painting is shown to its best advantage, is typical for the late 18th century.
Provenance
The Städtisches Museum Göttingen bought this vase on 13 December 1940 from the merchant Aloys Menges from Hannover for a total of 300 Reichsmark. Since the business records of this dealer have not yet been found, the previous owner of the vase is still unknown. The vase has no ownership mark or stamp.
