Description
Typewriter of the company A.-G. formerly Seidel&Naumann, type Erika No. 5 with the serial number 801867/5 and hebrew keyboard
Provenance
Formerly Institutum Iudaicum of the Eberhard-Karls-University Tübingen. The 'Erika 5', which is dated into the 30s, seems to be a special production from 1939. The University of Tübingen was offered such a typewriter (type Erika) with Hebrew types in a letter dated January 22, 1942, estimated at the value of 231 RM. The Jewish Institute ordered it. The letter comes from the Mannheim Police Headquarters, whose Department of Jewish Property utilised the stolen property of Jews expelled from Mannheim.
