Three-armed silver candlestick
The large, three-flame candelabra stands on a moulded, oval base, which supports a baluster shaft that is offset several times and widens slightly upwards in a conical shape. A chalice sits on the shaft, supporting a small, plate-shaped top with three candlestick arms. The slender, smooth candlestick arms first wrap around a cup-shaped ornamental piece in the centre of the top several times and then swing out to three sides in a further twist. Each chandelier arm carries a round eaves bowl with an open, vase-shaped spout for the light. Dotted on the edge of the foot: ‘P.H.’ (in italics); on the chalice of the shaft: ‘N:2’, belongs together with object inv. no. 1935,126
under the centre of the insert: ‘N:3’ (improved from ‘6’) (dotted), also on the foot: Hamburg hallmark and master's mark of Johann Hues (IH in a rectangle).
