Table
The round table on three pillars is characteristic of the French Empire. The high-quality gold-plated mountings on the frame show a procession of Bacchantes. The furniture is signed twice with G. Jacob. Jacob's family led an outstanding carpentry workshop unterr Louis XVI. and in the Napoleonic period. All important furniture for Napoleon refurbished castles came from there hand. The extensive work of George Jacob was inspired by English Chippendale forms. As jewelry for its linear, strict furniture he preferred rich bronze fittings in Greco - Roman - Egyptian style, but in addition also porcelain, so that the overall impression of his furniture is very ornate.
On the underside of the frame twice the punch: G. JAKOB
Punch "R I 2" on underside; number (chalk) "2" on underside; number "M. 2" (painting) on underside; number "2" (pencil)
