Recto: lower left in pencil "22 - 50", lower right signature "Ernst Oppler", lower centre "Der Strumpf", lower right inv. no. "VI b/52/365", "47/1937"; verso: lower left in pencil: illegible.
Provenance
20.10.1951: acquired from the art antiquarian Reinhold Puppel, Quedlinburg (formerly Hollstein & Puppel, Berlin). It is not known when and from whom Reinhold Puppel acquired the print. It cannot be ruled out that the print belonged to the old stock of the aryanised art shop Hollstein & Puppel. Reinhold Puppel deliberately traded in cultural property that had been confiscated as a result of Nazi persecution.
