Description
From the left a path with a herdsman and three cows. Further back at the river a washerwoman. Various groups of trees, in the background on the left a house, otherwise slightly hilly wooded landscape. By type and format possibly decorative parts, i.e. drawer fronts from an Antwerp cabinet. Inscribed on the reverse with wax crayon "43".
Provenance
Until 1944, the panel painting was in the possession of Albert Loewenich (Cologne) in Paris. There it was bought by the art dealer H. W. Lange (Berlin) together with another panel. On 9 August 1944, both objects were transferred from the Lange Art Shop to the Landesmuseum.
Research has shown that this object was imported from Paris to Germany after the occupation of France.
