Description
In the plate inscribed at lower right: "G. G. 14"; in pencil designated at lower left: "W. Rehn. Portrait Study. 1. Zsdt 5/5". Signed lower right "GGelbke 14"; Without passepartout. At the lower edge of the sheet in the middle of the sheet front 5-digit (stock?) number "68425"; in the lower right corner of the sheet front price note "80,-".
Provenance
transferred in September 1943 by the OFP Hessen in Darmstadt to the Painting Gallery and the Museum of Antiquities of the City of Mainz, tax office identification number: M. St. 88/851. Probably confiscated by the Mainz tax office in September 1942 after the deportation of the owners. The identity of the owner (presumably a Mainz collector specializing in prints of the Berlin Secession and the 1920s) has not yet been clarified.
