Description
"Full-size elbow of a supposed banker. He carries a black-grey frock coat. Middle parting and beard national costume in the style of Napoleon III. Pastos painted face, also the hands. Casually the coat throwing back and in the trouser pocket put left hand." (Mountain-inventory); ornamental frames; signs on the right below: "J. Epstein in 1900"; Originally offered as a "Portrait of a gentleman", it was recorded by Max Berger as "a banker" and also as inventory at JMW. It could be identified by Chava Seymann as a portrait of the banker Moriz Reichenfeld. But so far it could not be detected in the property; maybe it came from companies owned by the existing until 1926 Wiener Union Bank (also, there are, however, according to their legal successors no more records).
