Description
In the left foreground a tree, under the tree a girl. Following the path, the view opens in a long valley with lined river. Center of the image in the valley, farmhouses. Behind that ascending the slopes of the mountain range. On the horizon, a mountain ridge seals off the valley.
Provenance
1868 creation of the painting by the artist ?? Acquisition and possession of the painting by Mr. Henry Helbig, architect, Munich Wotanstr. 40. 1939 acquisition of the painting by the Chancellery of the gallery Arnold. Purchase Price 7500.- RM. Mediation by Prof. Troost. Owners: Henry Helbig 1945 acquisition of the painting from the former hiding place Altaussee in the CCP Munich. Register under number Mü. 11038 1962 handover of the painting in the departmental assets of the Foreign Office facilities German embassies. No evidence of a Nazi persecution-induced loss of assets. Because of gaps in the provenance history is such, however, not be completely excluded.
