Ivory statuette of Venus Anadyomene
When the National Socialists came to power, Alfred (1850-1941) and Hedwig (1855-1942) Pringsheim were increasingly exposed to persecution as Jews and fled to Switzerland in October 1939. As a result of this persecution and their forced departure, they sold part of their collection, including the statuette, to the Munich art dealer Julius Böhler on 6 April 1939. From there, the object was transferred to the Museum of Decorative Arts in Cologne on 17 April 1939.
No later than 1908 until 6.4.1939 Alfred and Hedwig Pringsheim Collection - 6.4. to 17.4.1939 Julius Böhler art shop - acquired by the Kunstgewerbe-Museum Cologne on 17.4.1939
