Provenance
The painting "The High Göll at Evening" by Carl Rottmann was created in 1848. The painting was sold at auction in 1940, together with the estate of Mrs Helene Tempelmann, born Vieweg by the auction house Lempertz in Cologne. Acquirer was Dr. Grosse from Berlin, which resold the painting to Mr. Pfeiffer from Hannover. Both did not belong to the circle of racially or politically persecuted collectively. Mr. Pfeiffer sold the painting in 1941 at Galerie Zinkgraf in Munich. From there, it was purchased by the Chancellery of the new museum in Linz, Donau on 03.05.1943. The purchase price could not be determined.
