Description
In the stone signed lower right: "G."; numbering lower left: 13/100; in pencil signed lower right: "Aug. Gaul". At the lower leaf margin in the middle pencil note "Bk 145". Newly passepartout in 1985 for an exhibition in the Landesmuseum Mainz.
Provenance
transferred in September 1943 by the OFP Hessen in Darmstadt to the Painting Gallery and the Museum of Antiquities of the City of Mainz, tax office identification number: M. St. 88/851. Probably confiscated by the Mainz tax office in September 1942 after the deportation of the owners. The identity of the owner (presumably a Mainz collector specializing in prints of the Berlin Secession and the 1920s) has not yet been clarified.
