This Esther scroll is a fragment of a manuscript. It was written in ink on parchment. The individual pieces of the scroll were originally glued together; the needle holes at the beginning of the fragment are still visible. The text begins with ‘Kera'ot ha-Melech et Esther ha-Malka’ (It came to pass, when the king saw Queen Esther...), Esther 5:2, and ends with ‘le-kol zra'o’ (all his descendants), Esther 10:3.
