Loss: May 1945. After the occupation of the town of Torgau by the victorious Allied forces after April 25, 1945, part of the old town and the castle were seized by liberated Polish workers from the East and former prisoners of war. At that time, the local history museum was located in wing E of the castle. The collections had not been moved to another location. In the months that followed, it became apparent that around 94% of the collections had disappeared or been destroyed. There is no information, evidence, or eyewitness accounts about their whereabouts—only speculation.
