A cooper's tanning plane (‘ship's plane’) for smoothing the inside of a barrel. In the wine town of Guben, the cooper's craft was of particular economic importance.
Provenance
Formerly the Guben City Museum. Parts of the collection were apparently evacuated to Kossar (today: Kosierz) in 1942/43. The part of the collection that remained in Guben is said to have been looted between 1945 and 1948 and has been considered lost ever since.
