Description
Model ship from the ‘Gasthof zum goldenen Schiff’ (Golden Ship Inn), the meeting place of the Guben boatmen. It depicts a gaff-rigged (!) coffee barge (Neisse barge) with a pole mast, mainsail and foresail.
Provenance
Formerly the Guben City Museum. Parts of the collection were apparently evacuated to Kossar (today: Kosierz) in 1942/43. The part of the collection that remained in Guben is said to have been looted between 1945 and 1948 and has been considered lost ever since.
