History
From November 1941, the collections began to be moved to the Zoo and Friedrichshain flak towers, to the underground vault of the Reichsmünze (Reich Mint), and from 1942 to the Schönebeck and Grasleben mines. The museum lost approximately 60,000 objects, of which 46,469 inventory numbers were returned from Russia (via Leipzig) in 1990. Nothing is known about the whereabouts of the remaining missing objects (possibly destroyed).
