Provenance
Listed in inventory no. 1 of 31 January 1920, as part of the 1924 settlement agreement between the Free State of Saxony and the former royal house, the rooms marked in red assigned to the state; On the list of art objects of particular value, drawn up by the head of the revenue office, Hugo Bahr, and the castle administrator Johannes Bibrach on 6 May 1942 ‘4 Gemälde’ listed, which were to be salvaged in the '1.Kaffeezimmer'. In the ‘Wettinzimmer’, 6 paintings are mentioned; the two series with a total of 10 mythological paintings were removed during the transports to Schleinitz Castle near Meissen on 16 and 17 August 1943; According to the records, they were lost at the relocation site; The painting is currently in the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg- Florida/USA. Circumstances of acquisition unknown.
