Tapestry, month of October, zodiac sign Scorpio from the series "Les mois Lucas"
The motif shows the grape harvest in October with an exuberant rural party. In the lower left corner, a couple is sitting on the ground drinking wine. An older woman behind the couple on the left brings fruit in a bowl and in her apron. To the right of the group is a small table with a basket full of grapes, two children are sitting on the floor next to it and eating the grapes. In the centre of the depiction, a young man embraces a girl with a basket next to him. The couple are backed by an arbour entwined with vines. At the edge on the right, two men are treading the mash for the wine in a large wooden trough, while women are carrying the grapes in baskets. In the background, men and women dance in a circle, accompanied by three musicians playing a pipe, a bagpipe and a drum. In the distance, on the left, seen through the pergola, a portico becomes visible, while fields, trees and hills can be seen on the right. The cartouche in the lower border contains the zodiac sign Scorpio.
