Description
Low relief, on the base two swimming swans between rushes, on the reverse a crane in flight and another eating a fish, on a spiral shell ground, the lid with similar shell decoration, above a putto riding a dolphin, the rim painted with the coats of arms of Brühl and Kolowrat-Krakowska and scattered flower branches, gilded rim, crossed underglaze blue swords mark.
Provenance
Heinrich Count Brühl (1700-1763); on loan from Count Brühl to the Dresden Museum of Decorative Arts from 1920 (no. 1153); relocated from the Dresden Museum of Decorative Arts to Reichstädt Castle in Saxony due to the war; lost since 1945; it cannot be ruled out that it is part of the objects looted from the Dresden Museum of Decorative Arts in 1945.
