Description
Samuel van den Bergh's valuable library contained around 6,000 titles. According to historical accounts, this included a so-called Gutenberg Bible.
The library focussed on Judaica, economics, history, literature, philosophy and archaeology. Van den Bergh was particularly interested in the antiquity of the Middle East. From 1922, he used a standardised ex libris (see Features).

Confiscation of the art collection, parts of the library and the inventory during the occupation of German troops by order of Luftwaffe commander Friedrich C. Christiansen. According to packing lists, the objects were shipped to northern Germany in 1944.
