Description
Madonna in half-length portrait, with headscarf and wide cloak. Her right arm is in front; with her left she holds the clinging child. Inscription on the plinth: Ave Maria. Stukko, polychrome, hollow back, old painting. Cf. the entire group of Madonna reliefs, examples of which are now in the Kaiser Friedrich Museum (attributed to Ghiberti by v. Bode), in the Bargello in Florence and in the Louvre in Paris.
