Lamaist painting; colours have a special luminosity; meticulous execution; reminiscent of Persian miniatures; picture is divided into three sections: 1. surrounded by stupa and palm trees, two deities of the Tibetan pantheon; 2. Crouching holy figure with praying gesture, surrounded by female siren-like figures with fish tails; 3. devil-like demons carry away the damned, who are mauled by hyenas and birds of prey; a river-like stripe borders the picture; the picture is part of an earlier larger painting.
