Description
Made in 1697 in a Viennese workshop by order of the Viennese court factor Samuel Oppenheimer (1630-1703). 9-armed, massive type.
The arms of the Chanukkah were removable, which means that they could be hung out for cleaning or transport. A kind of rope was tied to the ends of the arms so that they would not bend under their own weight (see illustration).
Provenance
1697 as a donation to the Jewish community of Heidelberg by court factor Samuel Oppenheimer; November 9, 1938 looted by the Gestapo; Lost since then; Hint to the repository about 30 years later, presumed in Ziegelhausen (BW) in the pub "Stiftsmühle".
