Anna Elisabeth von Arnim, geb. von der Schulenburg-Wolfsburg (* 1720, † 1741)

Half-figure portrait of a young lady holding blossoms in her very slender hands, seen almost frontally, looking directly at the viewer with a friendly smile, dressed in a "simple dark dress, probably of velvet" (Hammerschmidt 2001), with a wide, almost semicircular neckline framed by a light, thin lace; a small brooch set with cut stones closes the neckline of the gown; the left forearm is unclothed below a large lace brim with pointed folds, reaching for the small-flowered meadow flowers which she holds in her right hand; her hair is coiled into tight curls above her forehead, starting from a centre parting, and in it, above the left side of her forehead, a small arrangement of flowers; at the nape of her neck and on her left shoulder falls a tightly plaited, small, apparently blond plait; over her right arm appears to be a narrow ribbon, a cord or or the strap of a bag.
